Red Light Energy at 633 nanometers (wavelength) and 60mW/cm2 (power), has the ability to gently penetrate the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin) and reach the dermis, (the middle layer of the skin.) This enables it to reach fibroblasts, the cells located beneath the skin that manufacture collagen. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein that helps to lift, firm and tone the skin.

Red-Light does this, in part, by stimulating the mitochondria – the “power plants” within the cells that convert food into a useable form of stored energy. When energy is needed by the cells, it is then converted from stored energy into ATP (adenosine triphosphate). ATP acts as a ‘super conductor’ that transports energy directly to places within the cells (throughout the body) where it is needed.
